Spay/Neuter

In the words of Bob Barker, “Help control the pet population - have your pet spayed or neutered.”

Spaying and neutering your indoor and outdoor animals is THE single most important thing to do to help control the pet over-population. Shelters and rescues turn away many adoptable animals daily due to space constraints, so the fewer animals being born, the fewer that will be euthanized.

Trap, Neuter, Release (TNR)

Lulu’s Locker supports and advocates TNR, which is the humane trapping, neutering or spaying at a low-cost vet clinic, and return of “feral” cats to their outdoor homes. TNR is the most humane and effective way of controlling feral-neighborhood cat populations and preventing unwanted cats and kittens from being born, relinquished, and euthanized in animal control facilities.

For full information about TNR, and to find out how you can help outdoor cats in your area, please visit Alley Cat Allies and TNR Chicago. Both organizations are protecting the rights and lives of outdoor cats in Chicago and nationally.
